The Village Project, LLC ("The Village Project," "we," "us" or "our") runs the website at www.thevillageproject.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies only to the Site. Our publication and email updates on Substack, and any other site we link to, have their own policies.
1. Information you give us
Contact form. When you write to us through the contact form we collect your first name, last name, email address, the option you choose under "I am a" (for example Land Owner, Developer or Home Builder, Government, Job Seeker, Investor), your message, and the time you sent it.
We use this information only to reply to you.
Updates by email. The Site does not collect email sign-ups. The "Subscribe on Substack" button takes you to our page on Substack, where Substack collects your email address under its own privacy policy and handles every email and unsubscribe.
Earlier sign-ups. Before October 1, 2026, the Site footer collected email addresses for updates. If you signed up that way, we keep your email address only to send you the updates you asked for, and you can ask us to delete it at any time through the contact form.
2. Information collected automatically
Hosting and security. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical information that every web request carries, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. Vercel uses it to deliver the Site, keep logs, and protect the Site from abuse, which can include a brief automatic check that your browser is not a bot.
Form protection. Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile loads with the contact form and processes technical signals from your browser while the page is open.
Video. The video at the top of the home page is streamed by Mux. Mux receives your IP address and basic device information in order to deliver the video.
Optional analytics, only with your consent. If you choose "Accept" in our cookie banner, we also use:
- Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and referrers without cookies;
- Vercel Speed Insights, which measures how fast pages load for visitors;
- Mux Data, which measures how the video plays (for example start time and buffering). We have switched off Mux Data cookies.
If you choose "Reject," or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, none of these optional tools run unless you later choose "Accept" in Cookie settings. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the Site's pages.
Search reports. We may use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. They give us aggregate reports about how the Site appears in search results. They do not place cookies on your device through the Site.
3. How we use information
- To answer your messages and requests.
- To run, secure and fix the Site, including preventing spam and abuse of our forms.
- With your consent, to understand how the Site and video are used and to improve them.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and the Site carries no advertising or social media tracking pixels.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run the Site for us and may process information only on our instructions: Vercel (hosting, security, optional analytics), Cloudflare (form protection), Mux (video delivery and optional video analytics), and Google (Google Sheets and Google Apps Script, where form entries are stored).
- Our development partner, Movarai Ltd, which builds and maintains the Site and may access the hosting environment and form records to support it.
- Legal and safety reasons, if the law requires it or to protect the rights, property or safety of The Village Project, our users or others.
- A business transfer, if The Village Project is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case information may transfer as part of that deal.
5. How long we keep information
- Contact form messages: only as long as we need them to reply to you, then deleted.
- Earlier email sign-ups: until you ask us to delete them.
- Hosting and security logs: kept by Vercel for the short periods set by its service.
- Optional analytics: kept by Vercel and Mux in aggregate form under their own retention settings.
6. Your choices and rights
- Analytics: choose "Reject" in the banner, or change your choice with "Cookie settings."
- Email updates: use the unsubscribe link in any email from our Substack.
- Access, correction and deletion: you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, through the contact form. We will respond within the time the law of your state requires, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
- California residents: depending on whether the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to us, you may have the rights above plus the right to know the categories of information we collect and why. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in that law.
7. Browser signals
We honor Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends it, optional analytics stay off unless you choose "Accept" in Cookie settings yourself. There is no common industry standard for "Do Not Track" signals, so the Site does not respond to them; our analytics are off unless you accept them in any case.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), security headers, bot protection on our forms, and limited access to form records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Visitors outside the United States
The Site is run from the United States, and our service providers and our development partner may process information in the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries. If you use the Site from elsewhere, your information will be processed in those countries, whose laws may differ from yours.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will post a notice on the Site.
